Pinellas County License Board Members 

In accordance with Chapter 61-2681 Amended by Chapters 70-893 and 2007-277 Laws of Florida

A member of the Board of County Commissioners; delegated by action of the Board of County Commissioners: Charlie Justice

The District Administrator of DCF or a person delegated by him/her: Celeste Fernandez

A member of the Juvenile Welfare Board, or Director of said Board, said member to be designated by action of the Juvenile Welfare Board: Michael Mikurak, Board Chair

The District School Superintendent or his/her designee with an expertise in elementary preschool education: Jennifer Mekler

The County Health Officer or a person delegated by him/her that is not an employee of the County Health Officer: Dorothy Duvé

One member in good standing from Pinellas County preschool associations, selected by majority vote of the elected officers of those organizations: Dr. Susan Weber

One member in good standing of a Florida Family Child Care Home Association Affiliate, selected by majority vote of the elected officers of those organizations: Lynn Gibson

An employee of the Florida Department of Health, that will serve in an ex Officio capacity: Brandy Downing

Board Attorney: Colleen M. Flynn, Esq.


Advisory Committee

From Section 19, Chapter 61-2681, Amended by Chapter 70-893, Laws of Florida, and action taken by the License Board on September 30, 1974, June 27, 1977, June 4, 2003 and May 7, 2008; Members shall serve a two (2) year term beginning with appointments made in 2008; there is no limitation on the number of terms a person may serve: 

Privately-Operated Children's Centers:

  • Elizabeth Krakowski

School Age Centers:

  • Rob Lovelace

Faith-based Children's Centers:

  • Chris Steurnagel

Two other persons qualified by education and experience in the field of early childhood education:

  • Nancy McGreevy
  • Dan Berman

Two operators in good standing, one (1) representing Family Day Care Homes and one (1) representing Large Family Child Care Homes:
