School-Based Health Services

Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County, Available 24 hrs/day

The mission of the School-Based Health Services Program is to assess, protect and promote the health of children and adolescents, helping to assure that they are healthy in the classroom and ready to learn.

Prevention, intervention, and emergency school-based health services are available every day to students enrolled at five Pinellas County High Schools:

We consider several factors when selecting a school-based health center site. Most crucially is ensuring convenient access to high-quality healthcare for all students. These centers not only attend to sick students but also offer preventive care, including annual physicals and sports physicals. The healthcare staff can also address chronic health conditions and provide on-site mental health support. Ultimately, these centers empower students to actively manage their overall health, benefiting the entire community, particularly those without insurance or easy access to medical services.

We are thankful for the partnership with the Pinellas County School Board, Juvenile Welfare Board, and the administrations of the five high schools. Together we provide a safe and connected space for these students to take charge of their health alongside compassionate and dedicated healthcare staff.
