Early detection is the key to successful diagnosis and
treatment of breast cancer and cervical cancer.
The Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program at the Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County (DOH-Pinellas) provides no-cost screening exams, including mammograms, pap smears, pelvic exams, and clinical breast exams, to women who are 40 to 64 years of age, low income, and uninsured or under-insured.

If you are between 40-64 years old, low income, and uninsured, print the application, fill it out, and mail it back to us. We will call you to schedule an appointment.
Once we receive your completed application, we will call you to let you know if you qualify and to make your first appointment. When you become part of our program, we will schedule and authorize payment for all your appointments for breast and cervical cancer screenings, and other related tests if needed, for one year.
If you qualify for our program but have received a mammogram anywhere else within the last year, we cannot serve you until at least a year has passed since that mammogram.
Screening Guidelines
- Women need their first pap test at the age of 21, regardless of sexual activity.
- Women need a pap test every three to five years after the first test as long as the test results continue to be normal.
- Women 20 years and over should have their breasts checked once a year by a health care professional.
- Women over age 40 should have a mammogram once a year.
