September is National Recovery Month

Recovery from addiction can be challenging, particularly for individuals who are unaware of the supportive tools and resources available within their community. To address this, we collaborate with a wide range of partners—including recovery organizations, faith-based groups, government agencies, and healthcare providers—to assist individuals on their journey to sobriety. Our efforts focus on connecting people to essential services, supporting those currently experiencing substance use, and empowering individuals who are in recovery.

The Pinellas County Opioid Task Forceconvenes quarterly to assess the local impact of the opioid crisis and develop coordinated strategies to address it. Through collaborative planning and resource sharing, we work to enhance recovery support and implement actionable solutions tailored to our community’s needs.

One of our key initiatives is the Naloxone (Narcan) Distribution Program, which provides this life-saving medication at no cost through DOH-Pinellas clinical locations. Naloxone can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, offering critical time for emergency responders to administer further medical care.

We invite you to learn more about the steps being taken to guide individuals toward a healthier, more hopeful future.
