St. Petersburg, FL–There may be more reasons why your child isn’t smiling before heading back to school this year.

Children suffering from tooth decay and other health issues related to a lack of consistent, quality dental care can negatively impact a child’s ability to learn and attend school.

Don’t let poor dental hygiene affect more than your child’s smile. Join the Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County (DOH-Pinellas) at its annual Back to School event to get children smiling and healthy before they head back.

On Saturday, July 15, the DOH-Pinellas Back to School clinic will provide dental exams and X-rays at no cost to new patients from 8 a.m. to noon. Children, ages 4 through 18, can arrive at the DOH-Pinellas clinic located at Pinellas Park, 6350 76th Ave. N.

No appointments are necessary; children and teens will be scheduled first come, first serve. A parent or guardian must accompany the child to receive services.
