DOH-PINELLAS HIGHLIGHTS RECENT EFFORTS IN PROVIDING COVID-19 VACCINES

March 22, 2021

The Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County (DOH-Pinellas), in partnership with the Florida Department of Health, Florida Division of Emergency Management and Pinellas County Government, is providing COVID-19 vaccination sites.

To keep Florida residents and visitors safe and aware regarding the status of the virus, DOH-Pinellas will continue to issue this update every week. Registrations for vaccines in Pinellas are made via the CDR Maguire Patient Portal at www.PatientPortalFL.com or, for information, call (844) 770-8548.

County health departments have an important role to play in administering vaccine. Here’s a summary of some of our top efforts during March 15-21:

• A new state vaccination site opened in Palm Harbor to serve north county residents. It’s located at The Centre, a Palm Harbor Parks & Recreation location at 1500 16th St. The site is accepting walk-ups and vaccinating anyone in the eligibility groups specified by the Governor’s Executive Order, which now includes those 50 years of age and older.
• The community vaccination in Pinellas continue to get very good reviews from the public for their organization and friendly staff. These sites are in St. Petersburg, Pinellas Park and Largo and they use the Patient Portal for appointments.
• As of March 22, 242,617 Pinellas residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
• DOH-Pinellas has begun vaccinating its Primary Care clients who meet the criteria set by the Governor. Those 50 and older and the medically vulnerable will be vaccinated by the staff.
• DOH-Pinellas continues its health equity efforts in churches with underserved congregations and at community groups where people experience barriers to vaccination. An effort to provide vaccines to the homeless population and an initiative to serve homebound people in targeted areas of the county is also underway this week.

Partnerships with area churches and organizations, fire/EMS personnel at community vaccination sites, Pinellas County Schools, Pinellas County Government, the City of Clearwater and the Center for Health Equity.
