DOH-PINELLAS HIGHLIGHTS RECENT EFFORTS IN PROVIDING COVID-19 VACCINE

By Maggie Hall, PIO

March 01, 2021

The Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County (DOH-Pinellas), in partnership with the Florida Department of Health, Florida Division of Emergency Management and Pinellas County Government, is providing COVID-19 vaccination sites.

To keep Florida residents and visitors safe and aware regarding the status of the virus, DOH-Pinellas will continue to issue this update every week. Registrations for vaccines in Pinellas are made via the CDR Maguire Patient Portal at www.PatientPortalFL.com or, for information, call (844) 770-8548.

County health departments have an important role to play in administering vaccine. Here’s a summary of some of our top efforts during Feb. 22-28:

• As of 2/27/21, 224,099 doses have been administered in Pinellas. Of those, 78,236 were second doses to protect seniors, long-term care residents and staff and health workers.
• DOH-Pinellas continues to work with Pinellas County Emergency Management to take COVID-19 vaccines to senior communities. Emergency planners identify communities based on demographics, ZIP Codes and interest.
• The faith-based initiative continues in Pinellas at houses of worship. Past outreach events midweek or on weekends have focused on primarily African American houses of worship, but the initiative is expanding to Latinx and Asian communities this week and in early March. This past week, DOH-Pinellas visited Mt. Hermon AME in Tarpon Springs to provide more than 500 vaccines and the Hispanic Outreach Center in Clearwater to provide 250 vaccines. The latter featured bilingual materials and staff.

DOH-Pinellas continues to fight to protect health and safety as the rollout of COVID-19 vaccine continues.

Residents 65 and older who got their first dose after booking through the CDR HealthPro portal should have already scheduled a second appointment time. To verify appointment times, log in to the patient portal: https://www.patientportalfl.com.
