The Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County has been the Lead Agency for HIV/AIDS Services since 2012. These services include but are not limited to eligibility services (non-medical case management), medical case management, HIV medical visits and associated lab (outpatient ambulatory health services), medical nutrition, mental health services, AIDS pharmaceutical (medication) assistance, emergency financial assistance, and more. Our goal is to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and to provide access to treatment and resources to those who are infected and affected by the epidemic. Our main objectives include the four pillars of EHE:
- Diagnose individuals with HIV as soon as possible by increasing the amount of testing within Pinellas County.
- Treat individuals who are HIV positive as soon as possible and ensure they maintain their care routine.
- Prevent new HIV infections through education and increased access to PrEP, nPEP, and syringe exchange programs.
- Respond to HIV networks with the resources and services needed to deploy treatment and prevention in a timely manner.
