Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT) and TASCO (Teen Arts, Sports and Cultural Opportunities) are hosting the 17th Annual SWAT Sandblast, a smoke-free event for middle and high school students on Saturday, April 9 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Spa Beach, 615 2nd Ave. NE, St. Petersburg.

SWAT Sandblast is free to all participants and will feature fun activities including live music, volleyball games, inflatable waterslides, Kan Jam, an 80-foot zip line and more. SWAT and TASCO members, in collaboration with the Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County (DOH-Pinellas), St. Petersburg Parks & Recreation, Healthy St. Pete and Central Station, are highlighting support of youth for a tobacco-free lifestyle.

SWAT is an organization with an active, involved membership of young people in middle and high school that provides a means for Florida's youth to develop and coordinate a unified assault on tobacco's sales pitch in their communities. It encourages youth to become effective advocates and leaders in their communities while providing "real life" experiences through planning, executing and evaluating tobacco prevention activities. SWAT trains youth to be more effective in all endeavors they choose to undertake.
