January 15, 2015

The Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County’s 2014 Annual Report to the Community for the 2013-2014 fiscal year has been added to its website, https://pinellas.floridahealth.gov/ as a PDF. (State of Florida fiscal years are from July1 to June 30.)

The PDF for this year’s report, as well as for those going back to 2010, are at https://pinellas.floridahealth.gov/programs-and-services/community-health-planning-and-statistics/data-and-reports/index.html.

The four-page brochure summarizes public-health efforts during the fiscal year and provides information about the sources of funding from the state, county (including the Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County) and other local grants and fees. The report is released to the community each year as part of the agency’s mission to be accountable to the citizens of Pinellas County.

The report lists statistics in communicable diseases, primary care and environmental health and lists budget information. Some highlights:

  • Almost 18,000 children and adults received immunizations during 21,500 visits.
  • More than 5,000 children and more than 16,000 adult clients received primary care services during 47,000 visits.
  • Environmental Health performed more than 30,000 inspections in facilities that included school cafeterias, nursing homes, public pools and tattoo or piercing businesses.
  • With funding support from the Pinellas Board of County Commissioners, DOH-Pinellas will be offering more dental services to low-income, uninsured adults.

Most of the report’s distribution will be as a PDF to save on printing costs, but a limited supply of printed copies are available upon request at any DOH-Pinellas location.
