HIV Prevention Starts with You: Get Tested on Friday, March 9

By Audrey Stasko

March 07, 2018

To highlight National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, the Pinellas Planning Partnership will provide no-cost HIV testing, health screenings, music, food and giveaways on Friday, March 9, from 3 PM to 6 PM at Out of the Closet Thrift Stores, 3400 26th Ave. S., St. Petersburg. HIV testing and other health screenings will be provided by the Florida Department of Health in Pinellas (DOH-Pinellas) and community organizations and businesses.

Every year on March 10, and throughout the month of March, local, state, federal, and national organizations come together to raise awareness and show support for women and girls impacted by HIV and AIDS. This March marks the 13th annual observance with the theme, "HIV Prevention Starts with Me," to emphasize the role everyone, including women, men, community organizations, health care professionals, those who are HIV-negative, and those who are HIV-positive, plays in HIV prevention.

The no-cost event is open to the public and organized by the Pinellas Planning Partnership, which includes DOH-Pinellas, St. Petersburg College, among many other local organizations and businesses.
