NO-COST POINT OF DISPENSING, PLANNING AND RESPONSE COURSE

First responders and allied professionals can enhance their preparedness and emergency response skills during a two-day Pinellas seminar that offers continuing-education credits.

The course is presented by the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service, the National Preparedness Consortium and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Participants must have a FEMA Student ID (SID) number to register. (To request an SID, go to https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid.)

The course is designed for those in law enforcement, health care, emergency medical services, public health, fire service, emergency management and other allied professions. It is designed to help foster communication and coordination among those who protect the community during disasters. Topics include how to manage points of dispensing during emergencies; how to achieve the CDC’s 48-hour standard for mass prophylaxis in potential epidemic or pandemic events and Point of Dispending site preparedness. The course material is applicable to pandemic influenza, bioterrorism and other public-health emergencies.
