Ulyee Choe, DO
Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County
Dr. Ulyee Choe was appointed as Director of the Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County in 2015. He is board certified in both internal medicine and infectious diseases and is currently an assistant professor at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Disease and International Medicine.
He is a graduate of the University of Florida where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology and received a Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from Nova Southeastern University in 2005. He completed his internal medicine residency and infectious diseases fellowship at the University of South Florida in 2011. Dr. Choe accepted the position of Assistant Professor of Medicine with the Division of Infectious Disease and International Medicine at USF. Dr. Choe has served as director of the Florida Department of Health in Polk as well as interim director of the Florida Department of Health in Hardee County.
Dr. Choe currently serves as the co-chair of the Health and Medical Committee for the eight county Tampa Bay Regional Domestic Security Task Force (RDSTF) as well as vice-chair of the Health and Medical Coalition. He also serves as the chair of the statewide Communicable Disease Program Council and has served on the state Medical Advisory Group for Ebola. He grew up in Clearwater and is a Dunedin High School alumnus.
